Designed To Last

We all have a social & ethical responsibility. Being a sustainable brand is key for Dalton's in todays ever changing environment, from sourcing our leather & working closely with our London manufacturers to delivering to our customers. Emma, our founder & designer ensures that all of Dalton's products can be worn time & time again each season ensuring quality & versatility in your wardrobe.

Quality We Can Promise

Our suppliers have been carefully selected to ensure that our hides are ethically sourced from Italian farms. Being a byproduct from another industry means no additional land or resources are used. From our Somerset workshop the hides are crafted into investment pieces which make long lasting additions to your style. Above all, we believe mindful purchasing is vital.

Buying with purpose & investing in quality.

Recycling Fashion ....

Plastic
Free

Since last spring we have been able to dispatch every order that leaves our workshop plastic free with recyclable postage & gift boxes. We have received a huge amount of positive feedback since that has provided a great insight in to how ethical fashion is so important to our customers.

All packaging sent with your online orders is 100% recyclable.

There's Never
Any Waste

Not only do we hate to see any of our finished products go to waste but also any off cuts created during the manufacturing stages. For that reason we run both online & at events a seconds & samples sale so that any faulty or discontinued products get re-homed at great prices! Any off cuts are made into card holders, clutch bags, key rings and even belt keepers ready for the next batch of belts leaving little to no waste!

Using A Natural Material....

Benefits Of
Leather

Low Water Need | Low Energy Need | No Soil Erosion | Biodegradable | From Renewable Resource

Modern leather manufacturing recycles over 270 million cow hides each year. Without the ability of the leather industry to transform the hides into other products, over 7 million tonnes would go to landfill with huge environmental and biological impact.

Sustain Your
Style

Unlike alternative synthetic materials, leather is well known for it's durability, elegance & timeless appearance. This is why we do what we do & love working with a natural material. Leather provides the ability to produce quality that we can promise that will never fail the test of time, remaining in your wardrobe & out of landfill for years to come.

Leather makes a sustainable contribution to a society that needs to consume less, reuse more and a recycle everything.

Quintessentially British

Each of our collections are designed in our British workshop by Dalton's founder Emma. Emma works hard to create products that are synonymous with both elegance & innovation. Creating timeless designs that customers will fall in love with is something Emma has celebrated since day one.

Wholly Handmade In England

Somerset

Dalton's journey began with our founder Emma's love of leather work, creativity & fashion. To this day Emma still loves creating accessories & makes by hand many of our collections in our workshop based in Milton, Somerset whilst other collections are handmade down the road in Yeovil.

London

Selected collections of our belts are handcrafted by talented British artisans based in London using luxury Italian calf hides. Being a Somerset based brand allows us to work closely with one another to create quality that we can promise.

Personalisation

We offer a complimentary embossing service with all orders meaning any of your favourite suede or leather products can be embossed with your name or initials. We have had our statement font tooled into brass letters which we then emboss onto each product using heat & pressure. Each personalised product is embossed in house by Dalton's founder Emma.

Making premium quality, personalised gifts either to yourself or a loved one is what we do best!

CHAPTER 1 | June 2014, Day One

June 2014

Sat in my shared uni housing, looking at spending another summer working with horses, I got my hands on a friend’s leather tools and had my first attempt at making a dog collar. That was it... a passion for creativity and leather work was discovered, an idea of elegant, British made, yet affordable leather accessories was born and following a rookie investment pitch to my two reluctant parents for £200, the first collection of British Polo Belts was made...

CHAPTER 2 | Meet Dalton P

July 2014

A loyal companion and 17th Birthday present... my horse Dalton P who accompanied me through my university years became the obvious option when coming up with a new business name... Dalton’s, it was! Dalton P or SImon as we also know him ran in his last event the following summer & retired at the grand age of 7 due to injury. He has made an exceptionally good looking field ornament ever since.

CHAPTER 3 | Step Right In

August 2014

With a young blood desire to prove my rogue idea could be a success and having persuaded enough friends to invest into my new innovative creations, I headed to Gatcombe Horse Trials to showcase my unique British take of Polo belts and went about setting up my first trade stand using an old gazebo and furniture from my parents’ house. Information which had managed to stay elusive until now... I sold enough to pay for Blenheim Horse Trials the next month, and many shows are now an annual fixture in our calendar.

CHAPTER 4 | The Signature Snaffle Clasp

2015

Having spent much of the spring and beginning of the summer travelling the country and living out of my car at equestrian and country shows, I found myself hand making products on the stand to keep up my levels of stock and watching horses compete most of the weekend.

That’s when it came to me, a snaffle clasp belt! A simple design adjustable either side, with a flat clasp making it comfortable to ride in... Now our signature product.

CHAPTER 5 | Building Blocks

2016

The busiest year I’ve had in terms of shows, I travelled most weekends from March to December constructing my stand in all weathers, all worth it to create invaluable customer relationships and to learn core brand values: To provide the best of British. To appreciate you as customers and to offer you the best service I can. The genuine smile of someone who loves my products is something I’ve celebrated since day one, so when it came to sponsoring event riders, it was a given, Rob Barker, my oldest childhood friend, Chuffy Clarke and Abi Boulton who had been customers since almost day one.

CHAPTER 6 | Social Climbers

September 2017

Having documented many of the highs & lows of a start-up business over the past 3 years we hit 10k followers on Instagram. I remember setting up my Facebook page 3 years prior, inviting everyone on my friends list in the hope of getting 100 page likes. I would never have imagined back then that I would build such a loyal following.

In return we now run a 'Customer Of The Month' competition, tag us in your pictures featuring one of our products for the chance to win a £50 voucher. The winner is announced on our social media & newsletter at the end of each month

CHAPTER 7 | Leopard Print... Our New Favourite Colour

August 2018

Having been asked by my mother almost since the day I started, for a plain black belt with a circle buckle.. I succumbed.. inevitably, as we all know, mum's are always right & as a result, over the next week I began making collection number 4. A simple, elegant design made with black calf leather & solid brass buckle.

I love it so much, I headed straight to London to ask the lead time to have the same design made in leopard print hair on hide. This became 'The Bedara Collection.' It was launched at Burghley Horse Trials & sold out by the Saturday. The craze began, our best selling product by far & my personal favourite.

CHAPTER 8 | Life Won't Sparkle Unless You Do

June 2019

The Bedara had sold so well over the past 9 months I wanted to expand the collection. The Festival of Hunting was only weeks away where I knew natural cow hide would be a hit. I made a trip to London to pick the hides when I spotted some white cow hides with gold acid splash, I was instantly sold!

The Bedara collection became the gift that keeps on giving with the metallic acid splash becoming another best seller. Both the natural cow hide & metallic splash remain as two of our statement products.

CHAPTER 9 | Jack Of All Trades

December 2019 | Jack Of All Trades

When I had the big idea, or rather a dream of setting up my own business five years ago in a bid to free my creative & live management free, I definitely both under estimated & was clueless to the fact I'd become a trade stand handy man, a content creating fashion blogger, a social media, advertising & marketing expert alongside designing & manufacturing products, many jobs I have yet to outsource! However it makes the small successes all that bit sweeter and at the end of 2019 I launched our most up to date website!

CHAPTER 10 | Staying Power

January 2020

I want you to love, enjoy & wear our products for a really long time. I will always be a product perfectionist & be obsessed with the quality & manufacturing of all our collections, therefore work closely with our manufacturers in London to ensure that this is the case & of course, many products are still handmade by ourselves. We love that our products last & remain in your wardrobe rather than landfill!

I love seeing & hearing how much life our customers have squeezed out of their Dalton's products therefore you can now leave a review on all product pages!

Check before you buy & review once purchased. Quality is our promise to you!

CHAPTER 11 | Mind Medicine

2020

Here & now on a business front, the journey has just started. From uncertain beginnings, Dalton's has come a long way but there is still so far to go & I hope that you continue with us on our adventure!

Current situations are all so very uncertain, unfortunately many events we had planned in the coming months have been cancelled. Here's hoping that we all stay safe & well. In the mean time we are still business as usual online & of course taking all precautions we can.

Stay up to date via our Instagram with daily updates from our rural Somerset workshop.

February 2015- Flummoxed Fathers

With the show season fast approaching, I scribbled some ‘designs’ of furniture and display cabinets down on a post-it-note and presented to my bemused father, which is still a common sight to this day. He then spent each night and much of his weekends over the following month building out of scrap wood and old scaffolding planks. I now at least had a presentable pop-up shop to drag around the country behind me in my very sorry looking I-for-Williams. The un-glorified truth of tradeshows that customers never see...

June 2015- The Signature Snaffle

Having spent much of the spring and beginning of the summer travelling the country and living out of my car at equestrian and country shows, I found myself hand making products on the stand to keep up my levels of stock and watching horses compete most of the weekend.

April 2018- It Gets Personal

Being a self-proclaimed expert in gifting... I always loved to buy personalised products for friends and family. Therefore, a year or so previously I had bought an ‘embossing machine’ over the internet from China. Once it arrived I realised I had bought what I can only describe a DIY soldering iron... not quite what I imagined... but persistent as ever I put it to use. Inevitably after a couple of uses, a few loose connections and a blue flash that not only nearly killed me, but almost sent my father into cardiac arrest as he watched in horror... I then decided to perhaps not cut corners, and invest into a legit embossing machine. I’m now reminded by my friend daily, buy cheap buy twice... None the less, we now provide an impressive personalised embossing service on both your leather products and gift wrap.

August 2018- Leopard Print, Our New Favourite Colour
